Students, Educators, and Families First

About
Mr. Lewis

My priorities for District 70… for Our kids, Our Teachers, District School Staff, and Our Pueblo County Families.

  • For Our Kids & Teachers: Mental health is one of the top school board concerns right now. “Strong schools care for the whole child—mental health, safety, and belonging included.”

  • For Our Staff & Admin: Strategic planning & budget monitoring “Good intentions must be matched with responsible stewardship of public resources.”

  • For Our Pueblo County Families: District 70 needs collaboration—not division. “Schools work best when families, educators, and community partners work together.”

“I believe our students deserve leadership that listens, collaborates, and leads with integrity.

I’ve spent my life walking alongside young people and the adults who support them.

I want to bring that experience to the board so decisions are grounded in real understanding, not politics.”

Jonathan has spent his career working with students at every stage of life—from middle school through young adulthood—supporting their growth, mental health, and sense of belonging.

His background includes organizational leadership, budget oversight, crisis counseling, and collaboration with educators, healthcare professionals, and first responders. Jonathan believes effective school boards listen first, govern responsibly, and always keep students at the center of every decision.

“My values shape how I listen, lead, and serve—but public education must serve every family.”

  • Jonathan has served in senior leadership roles overseeing teams, budgets, and long-term strategy. His experience includes:

    • Leading community-based youth programs serving hundreds of students

    • Managing organizational budgets and resource development

    • Recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers and staff

    • Providing counseling and crisis support to students, educators, and families

    • Serving on ethics and diversity-focused leadership teams

  • I have spent a significant portion of my life investing in young people and the adults who support them. District 70’s teachers and staff are doing incredible work every day, often with limited resources and recognition. I want to serve on this board to support and equip those educators, to help create environments where both students and staff can thrive, and to ensure that more families have the positive experience my family has had. Every student in District 70 deserves quality education, and every educator deserves to be supported and respected. I am ready to contribute my skills to help this board navigate the difficult road ahead while honoring what makes this district strong.
